A tourist visa is issued to foreigners visiting Portugal just as tourists, for purposes like meeting their family, vacationing or sightseeing. Visa application form duly filled and signed by the applicant. In the case of minor(s), the form should be signed by both parents. Two (2) recent photographs of the applicant, with a plain background. An ordinary passport or other recognized travel document valid for at least three months from the expiry date of the visa applied for. This document must have at least two empty pages for the visa stamp. Applicants are required to bring previous passports, if any, and attach them with application copies. Photocopy of the applicant’s national ID card or valid means of identification. Third-country nationals residing in Portugal must provide supporting documents attesting to the legality and the authorized duration of their residence. If the applicant has been refused a visa by an Embassy or High Commission in the last two years, written explanation about the reason for trip and refusal. For underage children (under 18) travelling with a single parent, a written consent of the other parent is required with a photocopy of their valid ID card. Supporting documents of personal income such as original bank statements of the last six months, National Tax Number Certificate (NTM) for the previous two years and proof of income tax payment or Last three salary slips. Accommodation proof (confirmed hotel reservation, rent agreement clearly stating your name, rental period dates and accommodation address) covering the entire period of travel. If the trip is a package tour, attach a detailed itinerary. Original AND copy of a travel medical insurance policy of not less than 30,000 Euros. The policy must cover medical and hospitalization expenses for the entire period of valid stay in Portugal as well as repatriation costs.

A business visa is granted to foreigners going to Portugal for attending a business meeting or conference. Applicants of a business visa can also get involved in trade fairs, negotiate and sign contracts with business partners/companies in Portugal. Visa application form should be correctly and completely filled and signed by the applicant Two (2) recent photographs taken against a plain background. An ordinary passport or travel document should be valid for at least three months beyond the expiry date of the Portugal visa. The passport must have at least two blank pages. Previous passports should be attached with application copies A photocopy of the applicant’s national ID card is required. Applicants are not required to submit an original copy. Applicants that are not citizens of Portugal are required to submit a legal residence permit. An original signed letter of the applicant’s company/employer stating name, position, salary, duration of employment, address and contact numbers of the employer, purpose, and duration of visit to Portugal. Documents showing proof of sufficient funds for the whole duration of stay in Portugal is required. The documents may include original bank statements of the last six months or last three salary slips If the applicant is the proprietor of a company. An invitation letter from the private or public organization established in Portugal, in the applicant’s name and indicating the trip dates. Confirmed hotel reservation/ proof of accommodation is required. Copy of flight booking(s) should also be provided by the applicant. Travel medical insurance policy of not less than 30,000 Euros that covers medical expenses for the whole duration of stay in Portugal is required.
